W/C 5th March 2018
In English this week we started our new unit on disaster stories. Our focus is the book 'Flood' that has some brilliant illustrations. The children have been using similes, repetition, dialogue and personification to start the story off.
For Maths, we have been looking at subtraction. We have been using expanded column subtraction to help us answer subtractions making sure that we exchange correctly if needed. Remembering to exchange was quite tricky for the children but with lots of practice and answering reasoning questions by the end of the week everyone was more confident with using column subtraction which is brilliant!
In Science, we continued to look at plants and the different parts of a plant. The children used magnifying glasses to look up close different parts of plants and then drew and labelled their own plant.
For RE, we have continued to look at the Easter story and its importance to Christians. We played Easter Pass the Parcel to retell a different section of the Easter Story and then discussed why eggs are a significant part of Easter. The children then freeze framed the story to show their peers. At the end of the session we went back to the key question this term and started to think about 'What is good about Good Friday' and the children came up with some excellent reasons linking to what we have looked at so far.
See below some pictures from our week.
