Mandela class have been working hard this week learning about Nelson Mandela and trying to understand what it was like to be a black South African during his lifetime. The children have created bright, colourful, group posters about his life and work.
We have read 'Journey to Jo'burg' by Beverley Naidoo which tells the story (in an age appropriate manner) of two black children and their hope for a better life. The children have also written their own stories set in South Africa.
In addition, we've been getting to know each other and they have been only to eager to show off their Reading, Writing and Maths skills. I have certainly been kept very busy awarding House Points!
