This week in English we continued to look at 'How does a robot dog work' and the children continued to build up their explanation text by writing about what happens if you neglect or feed your robot the wrong food. We are coming to the end of this unit and the children are very excited to write their own explanation text about their own robot next week.
In Maths, we looked at fractions. We looked tenths and how it arises from dividing an object into 10 equal parts and in dividing one-digit numbers or quantities by 10. The children also got very good at counting up and down in tenths. We finished the week but using all our fraction knowledge to answer word problems. The children used diagrams and explanations to help them answer the problems.
In topic, we continued to look at polar regions and focused on polar bears. We looked at how researchers track them and gather information and facts about the polar bears and environment. The children really enjoyed finding out about what the researchers do and they even got to track the polar bears on a website that the researchers have set up.
We also discussed our goals in life and how to achieve them during our PSHE session. We encouraged each other to reach for our goals and figured out what we could do to help us achieve them. We also discussed things that we are good at and that if we try our best we can achieve.
