W/C 16th October 2017
This week in English, we have looked at contractions and making sure that we use the apostrophe correctly. We also made sure that when using contractions that they make sense in our sentences as we have to remember what the two words are used to create the contraction e.g. don't = do not.
In maths, we have focused on the 3 times tables. We built the 3 times table together using other number facts that can help us. Times tables are very important so please make sure you support your child with learning them at home. We also looked at rounding and estimating. This was tricky at the start but once the children remembered the rhyme it really helped them to work out if the number needs to be rounded up or down.
This term the children have thoroughly enjoyed their art, music and french lessons on a Tuesday. The art they have created looks wonderful and they have really developed their skills in music learning the ukulele.
Harvest festival also took place at St Jame's Church and the children got to share their stain glass windows with the school. The children also received their own bible welcoming them to Southbroom St James Academy.
Have a great half term!
