It's been another very busy week in Mandela class. In English, we've started reading 'WarHorse' by Michael Morpurgo and have learned what Joey's early life was like. We've been developing our reading comprehension skills by answering detailed questions about the text as well as thoroughly enjoying the story! The text has also helped us understand how tricky it was for farmers at the beginning of the war when all the horses were commandeered.
In Maths, we have worked hard on place value; focusing on reading, writing, ordering and comparing both positive and negative numbers. We have also been problem solving using negative numbers in context.
In our topic work we created a timeline of the events which led up to the beginning of the Great War. We've also been learning which countries were involved and are beginning to understand the causes of the War.
In Science, we've been investigated how flowering plants reproduce and have made some fabulous, detailed drawings.
