Welcome back to the Spring term aftr your Christmas holidays! We hope you had a good rest and are ready for a busy term of learning!
This term we are going to be learning about Anglo- Saxons, how they lived and where they settled. We will be going on a class visit to Devizes Museum where we will explore Anglo Saxon artefacts and make our own Anglo Saxon coins.
Science this term could get very noisy as our new topic is sound- how it travels, pitch and volume.We will also be investigating different materials to see which will provide the best insulation against sound.
In English, we will be learning how to develop our writing skills based around the book Bike Boy. We will look at sentence structure and vocabulary as well as using our imagination to make our writing as exciting as possible.
We are starting a new reading book this term called The Firework Makers Daughter by Phillip Pullman. We will be following the jounry of Lila to find the secret ingredient for making fireworks. We will be using this book to help develop our reading comprehension skills as well as finding different strategies to help us progress in our reading.
In Maths, we are developing our multiplication and division skills further, learning more about equivalent fractions and solving problems involving analogue and digital time.
PE. has now changed to a Monday afternoon so please make sure your PE kit is in school. We will also be having PE on a Thursday afternoon.

A QUICK REMINDER
Please remember that on Monday 6th November, Dickens Class will be visiting Warleigh Lodge Farm as part of our science learning.
You will need to wear wellies and old trousers that you don't mind getting dirty! Please ensure that you are wearing your school jumper and have a packed lunch with you. YOU MUST BRING A COAT PLEASE AS WE WILL BE OUTSIDE FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY!

What a brilliant first week back after half term (We hope you had a fun and relaxing week!)
This week we met our new class teacher Miss Maidment who will be teaching us on a Thursday and Friday as well as being our new assistant head teacher and SENCO.
In English this week we have been looking at recount writing and using the past tense in our writing. In maths we have been working on multiplication using written methods.
REMEMBER TO KEEP PRACTICING THOSE TIMES TABLES!
We have continued to explore the Ancient Greeks as part of our topic learning in the afternoons and will do so up until the Christmas Break.
Welcome to Dickens Class Year 4
Wow! Where did the summer holidays go? Miss Harris will be returning from maternity leave to teach Dickens class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Mr Bailey will then teach on a Thursday and Friday.
Our first topic is Ancient Greece. We will be exploring major developments during this period of time, as well as exploring Greek myths and legends.
P.E this term will be taught on a Tuesday and Thursday so please ensure you have appropriate PE kit in school for both of these sessions.
