Welcome to Armstrong Class Year 3
I cannot believe it is the start of the new school year! I hope you have all had a great summer and are ready to start our Year 3 adventure!
This term our topic is 'Meet the Flintstones', we are going to be learning about placing events, historical facts and figures on a timeline, understanding the concept of change over time, and most importantly all about cavemen and the Stone Age.
We will have PE on Thursday afternoons and we are starting swimming lessons on Monday 13th November. You must make sure that you have all of your PE kit in school, including appropriate footwear. If Children do not have a PE kit they will be provided with a spare class kit.
I look forward to all the great ideas, creativity and learning we will all have this year.
Our topic for term 1 is 'Meet the Flintstones'. We will be learning lots of interesting things about the Stone Age.
During term 2 out topic is 'Extreme Survival'. We will be exploring a range of extreme places and environments and consider how animals and communities adapt to these environments.
Our final topic of the year will be 'Tomb Raiders'. We will discover what life was like in Ancient Egypt, follow the route of the River Nile and much much more!
These are the spelling lists based on the age related expectations for the Autumn term. We will be testing on these in the first two weeks of term, and then again at the end of the term. Anyone who scores 35 or over will be entered into a new and very exciting Spelling Bee Competition in front of the whole school!
Please practise these as much as possible at home alongside your weekly spellings that will be sent home with the children on Mondays.
